The Lisbon Council is always looking for people with bright ideas, new methodologies and indicators, and unconventional approaches to public policy. Areas that are of particular interest to us are knowledge economy, innovation, climate change, environmental and fiscal sustainability, education, skills, human capital, state transformation, consumer policy and demography. In a nutshell, we are interested in large-scale transformations, which will impact the European society and economy in years and decades to come.
We have the capacity to bring new team members onboard in a full-time or part-time capacity, and without an obligation to reside in Brussels. As a Europe-wide, collaborative and innovative network, the Lisbon Council is a natural hub for change makers, disruptive innovators and policy entrepreneurs. We are looking for a Senior Policy Manager, who will assist a growing team to manage new and ongoing Lisbon Council initiatives.
Your job will be:
• Assist in the substantive and logistical preparation and execution of Lisbon Council initiatives, including events and publications
• Drafting and editing texts, including grant proposals
• Engage with members of the Lisbon Council network and act as a point person for specific activities
• Monitor policy developments, track issues, conduct research, etc.
• Represent the Lisbon Council at events and stakeholder meetings, including public speaking engagements
The ideal candidate should have 5-7 years of relevant work experience, and fulfill legal requirements to work in Belgium.
She/he will have proven management skills, as well as an interest in the modernisation of Europe, a sound knowledge of the European Union, with a particular emphasis on economics, human capital, education, skills, innovation and sustainability. She/he should have a university-level degree (MA or Ph.D.), be fluent in English and at least one other language, and have excellent writing skills. She/he will have superb and demonstrable writing and drafting skills, including research proposals, policy papers, letters, programmes, etc. She/he should be an entrepreneurial self-starter and team player with a good work ethic and the ability to bring projects to fruition, from start to finish. Prior experience with managing projects and grant writing a plus.
The successful candidate will report to the President and be based in Brussels. S/he will be paid a competitive compensation commensurate with the responsibilities of the role.
