Olli Rehn, vice-president of the European Commission and commissioner for economic and monetary affairs and the euro, delivered a powerful keynote, highlighting the principal achievements of the last year for the eurozone and the challenges still to be tackled. Holger Schmieding, chief economist of Berenberg, presented The 2013 Euro Plus Monitor, the latest edition of the benchmark competitiveness ranking published by Berenberg and the Lisbon Council. John Peet, Europe editor at The Economist, discussed the economic outlook for 2014.
